Theresa P. Lewis, affectionately known as “Patsy,”
In Loving Memory of Theresa P. Lewis
Sunrise: February 5, 1942
Sunset: June 28, 2026
Theresa P. Lewis, affectionately known as “Patsy,” was born on February 5, 1942, in Gouyave, St. John’s Parish, Grenada, to her beloved mother, Maggie Roman. As the eldest of her four siblings, Patsy embraced that role with pride and responsibility. She was a source of strength, guidance, and unwavering support, always putting her family and friends before herself. She was a protector, a nurturer, and someone her loved ones could always depend on.
As she grew into adulthood, Patsy carried these same qualities into her own family life. Theresa welcomed her first child, Roland Lewis, before meeting the love of her life, Norris Lewis. Together, they built a beautiful family and were blessed with three wonderful children: Angela Lewis, Lawrey “Wayne” Lewis, and Norril Lewis. Their love, commitment, and devotion to family created a legacy that continues through the generations.
With a shared vision for a brighter future, Norris and Theresa sought greater opportunities and migrated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York. There, they built a life filled with hard work, determination, and love. Theresa began her career as a domestic worker, caring for a Jewish family while attending the Allen School to earn her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. After graduating, she was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital, where she faithfully cared for countless patients and formed lifelong friendships that stood the test of time. She was also an avid 1199 delegate, proudly advocating for her fellow workers and standing up for their rights. Among those dear friends were Viola, Ruby, Val, James, and Mr. Cox, whose friendships remained close throughout the years.
After many years of dedicated service and meaningful connections, a new chapter began when St. Mary’s Hospital closed in 2005. Patsy decided it was time to return home to Grenada. She spent precious time caring for her beloved Aunt Nelcia until her passing. She then settled into her inherited family home on the beautiful Spice Isle, lovingly renovating it into a place that reflected her warmth, pride, and impeccable standards.
Though she had returned home, her deep love for family continued to draw her back to those she cherished. In 2014, Patsy returned to Brooklyn to meet her first great-grandson, Ismail Amin Jr. From the moment they met, the two shared an inseparable bond. She absolutely adored her “Ishy,” and as he grew, so did her love and pride in him. When her great-granddaughter, Yara Amin, was born, Patsy often joked that she had finally met her match. Yara inherited the same fiery spirit, sharp tongue, and strong personality that made Patsy so unforgettable, and the two shared a special connection.
Throughout every stage of her life, Patsy’s greatest joy remained her family. She showed her love through the many delicious meals she lovingly prepared, making sure no one ever left her table hungry. Cooking was one of her greatest expressions of love. Whether she was sharing stories, offering advice, giving instructions in her unmistakable way, or simply bringing everyone together, Patsy’s home was filled with warmth, laughter, and love. She was the matriarch of her family—the blueprint of a strong, God-fearing woman whose generosity, resilience, unwavering faith, and unconditional love touched everyone she encountered.
Even as time passed and challenges arose, Patsy’s strength never faltered. In June 2026, Patsy’s health began to decline. Yet even in the face of illness, her fighting spirit never wavered. She continued cooking, continued telling everyone exactly what needed to be done, and remained determined to live life on her own terms. True to her independent spirit, she walked into the emergency room under her own strength. Sadly, despite her courageous fight, Theresa peacefully entered eternal rest on June 28, 2026.
In her passing, she was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Norris Lewis, her cherished children, Lawrey “Wayne” Lewis and Norril Lewis, and her cousin, Alston Boyke.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving son, Roland Lewis her devoted daughter, Angela Lewis her beloved stepson, Jude Lewis ,her beloved siblings, Gemma, Gertrude, Richard, and Marjory her cherished grandchildren, Yannick, Wayne, Nykiah, Ayana, Sheddianne , and Rohan, along with many other beloved grandchildren her treasured great-grandchildren, Ismail Amin Jr. and Yara Amin her beloved nephew, Rawle Baker her nieces and nephews, Franka, Maria, Stacy, and Eric, along with many others her cousins, Peter Boyke and Frank Boyke, and a host of cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
As we reflect on her remarkable life, Patsy was truly one of a kind. She was the heart of her family, the definition of strength, and the foundation upon which generations were built. She loved fiercely, gave generously, and lived faithfully. Although she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in every lesson she taught, every meal she prepared, every laugh she shared, and every life she touched.
Her love will continue to guide us, her memories will forever comfort us, and her legacy will live on through all who were blessed to call her Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, Friend, and simply… Patsy.
May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace. “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:23
