This house is known locally to many people as a family dwelling. However, historical records have shown that it was the first lodge or hotel in Gouyave during the 1700s. As such many people who suffered from the 1775 fire in the town of St. George's were relocated to Gouyave.

This building was also used by the Juerakhan family as a Funeral home during the 1950's and also the Party Headquarters in St. John's of the NJM, in the early day of the Revolution.
