The Anslem Peters scholarship Fund(APSF) made its 9th Annual Award Presentation on Thursday 17, September 2015 at the Gouyave Public Library. The awards were made to the four(4) students already sponsored and the three(3) new ones starting this school year. Furthermore, completion certificates were issued to the three(3) students that have exited and have benefited from the program over the five(5) years.     


Rev. Melvin L. Schaper, Founder of SJCSS passed away

Reverend Melvin L. Schaper departed this life on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at Ochelata, OK. Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Bible Holiness Church in Ochelata, at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM on the same day at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, KS. Visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 21, 6:00 PM, at the Bible Holiness Church in Ochelata as well. Davis Family Funeral Home of Dewey, OK, in charge of arrangements.


ORANGE ALERT for Kick em Jenny Volcano

THE Kick’em Jenny submarine volcano located eight kilometres north of Grenada, is stirring, and the Seismic Research Centre at the University of the West Indies has hightened the alert level. Read more here -


On Thursday, July 23rd from 1:25am to 3:00am local time, a strong continuous signal was observed on instruments monitoring the Kick ‘em Jenny submarine volcano. Signs of elevated seismicity (earthquakes) began on 11th July and continue to present.

Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, and his entire team at Government Information, mourn the loss of our Technical Director, Mr. Hildebrand James, who drowned at sea earlier this evening, Easter Monday.


Hildebrand’s work at Government Information Service has transcended Governments, and he was a valuable member of the team, rising through the ranks over the years.

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, April 02, 2015 – GIS: Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Hon. Elvin Nimrod announced, on Tuesday, that government has taken the decision to relocate Carriacou’s main port from the town of Hillsborough to the Tyrell Bay Marina in Harvey Vale.


Minister Nimrod said the decision was made to safeguard Carriacou residents and visitors from the dangers and inadequacies of the Hillsborough jetty.

The exhibition begins Sat. 28th March, 2015 from 4:30 pm to 6pm and continues until (Good Friday omitted) Sat. 4th April, 2015 with a cultural activity: “Cuentenme algo bueno de Cuba Compay” – ‘Tell me something good about Cuba my friends.’  Opening ceremony, 28th March, begins at 4pm.

Visit to The Maurice Bishop Special School in Havana

Miramar, Havana, Cuba, 13th March, 2015, On March 13th, 2015, the Ambassador of Grenada to Cuba, H.E. Claris Charles paid a visit to the Maurice Bishop Special School.


This school was opened on September 4th, 1980 by Fidel Castro Ruz in honour of the then Prime Minister of Grenada. It caters for children who have various educational challenges and prepares them for possible inclusion into the school system.
