Pulling The Seine

Traditional fishing at Gouyave for jack fish and other near shore species. One can observe the nets and boats along with the men who are actively engaged in the pulling of the nets on the beach 

The town of Gouyave is famous for it’s Fishing, known as “The Fishing Capital of Grenada” most of the fishes exported from Grenada comes from Gouyave. On an average year, over Nine Million Dollars are made from fishing, over three thousand person directly or indirectly are involved in this industry. Nordom Seafood, a locally owned Fish Export Company operates from Gouyave and employed over twelve persons. A Japanese funded complex and the original fish market provides the avenue for local sales.the busy nature of the town come from the “fast dollar turn over"
