THE HEAD MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIP The 1st. Annual Head Master’s Scholarship Fund is developed to honor the deceased principals of Elementary School Education from the Parish of St. John and to provide financial assistance as outlined in the stated purpose. These educators were the corner stone of our Community who served as Mentors, Fathers, and Brothers instilling great values in their students and provided them with the necessary tools to go on in life to become very successful, obtaining professions such as Doctors, Lawyers, Scientists, Chemists, Educators, Nurses and Entrepreneurs and so on, the list is endless without limitation to professions. The following are some of the names of these educators who had dedicated their entire lives to preparing the young minds of our youth to accept the challenges of academia:
Mr. A. R. L. Miller; Mr. R. J .L. Pitt; Mr. J. O. Fleming; Mr. Gerald O’C Vincent; Mr. F. J. Louison; Mr. B. Nelson; Mr. A. E. Williams and Mr. E. L. N. Peter Stated Purpose of the Head Master’s Scholarship: The Head Master’s Scholarship fund is a need-base scholarship that is intended to provide a one-time annual relief in the form of financial assistance to the outstanding, financially challenged student who fits the criteria established below. The Student’s Responsibility: 1. The student must have gained entry into a secondary school based on the results of the common entrance or school leaving examination of the current year. 2. The Student must submit an application to the grant Administrator with attachments of his/her report card for the last two years; financial condition as it presently exists and his/her stated commitment to furthering his/her education. 3. At the discretion of the grant Administrator, both the student and his/her parents may be called upon for a short personal interview to be conducted at a pre-arranged location but in a private setting. The Administrator/Responsibility: The Administrator for “The Head Master’s Scholarship” is the most renowned Mr. Carlyle Glean. It is the responsibility of the Administrator to ensure that all applicants meet the criteria as established above and conduct the selection process in a manner that is fair, equitable and free from any or curry favor to any one student. As the Administrator’s selection is final, he is expected to exercise some level of prudence in his judgment as he makes his decision but without violating the overriding stated purpose and intent of the scholarship. He is duty bound to maintain strict confidentiality for the information gained in the decision making process and his decision must never be influenced by any form of political partisanship whatsoever. The Administrator remains the sole proprietor who is charged with the distribution of funds and is accountable only to managing philanthropists of the scholarship. Information for the Scholarship Fund will be disseminated within the Parish of St. John’s Primary Schools. Solicitation of funds: Mikey Passée who is spearheading the scholarship in collaboration with Vernon Louison and Collis DeCoteau will solicit funds via the internet on gogouyave.com, telephonically, word of mouth and any forms possible. All funds will be deposited in an account established at Redstone Federal Credit Union, Huntsville, Alabama under the name of “Head Master’s Fund”. Funds will be dispersed to the Administrator as requested. The account will be subject to audit by the Administrator, Vernon Louison, Collis DeCoteau and or any group of contributors. The name of the scholarship fund is The Head Master’s Scholarship Fund; however, the address where the funds are to be deposited differs because the bank computer was unable to accommodate the entire name; the name appears as Head Master’s Fund. We want to be very clear and transparent in this entire venture. We are urging all our people in England, Canada, United States, and in all nook and cranny around the world to assist us by pledging an annual donation to this fund to help provide an education to some of our disadvantage children who are committed to furthering their education. Please send all funds to: Redstone Federal Credit Union Head Master’s Fund Account # 407376 (S-2) 220 Wynn Drive Huntsville, Alabama 35893 Bank Routing Number 262275835 is provided for direct deposit into the account. The funding of one scholarship costs approximately $1,500.00 EC annually for 5 years. Our immediate goal is to award two scholarships for the first year and increase it annually as the fund raising permits. I would like to take this opportunity to give special mention to Carnice Alexis Modeste who had an idea of starting a scholarship fund in memory of Teacher Eli Peter which sparked my interest in spearheading this scholarship fund. I wanted to be inclusive in my approach. I also want to thank Collis DeCoteau for allowing this fund to be merged with his existing one. To both Collis DeCoteau and Vernon Louison I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support in helping create what might undoubtedly be a great opportunity for our disadvantaged young minds in our dear Parish.
