During the Easter holiday vacation the fishermen of Gouyave and its surroundings put aside their fishing gear and put on their sail and partake in friendly sailing rivalry

Gouyave Easter Regatta started in 1995 by the Gouyave Regatta Committee, headed by Arthur Hosten. It was Arthur's Idea to bring a Regatta to Gouyave since all the boats taking part in the Grenda Sailing Festival in St. George's were from Gouyave. Some of the earlier sponsors were Texaco, Grenada  Ports Authority, La Qua Brothers and Carib Beer. A new committee hijacked the Regatta in 2004. With lack of commitment from the new committee members,  there was no Regatta in 2005.

During this period there are sail boat racing, blessing of new boats amongst other things.

The sail boat races begins on the L'anse and travels along the coast to Maran and some times back down to Plamiste beach.

The winners of these races are given trophies and monetary prizes along with a years worth of bragging rights.
